Chicago Joins Good Food Purchasing Program

From Chicago Public Schools to CITY-WIDE adoption!

Chicago City Council just voted to join the @Good Food Purchasing Program, redirecting millions of public dollars towards food that is sustainable, local, humane, fair & healthy.

A big shout out to the Chicago GFPP Coalition (all of you!) for their incredible work over the last few years that led to yesterdays victory! The City of Chicago became the first city outside of California to adopt the Good Food Purchasing Program. The work to pass the ground-breaking resolution was lead by the Chicago Food Policy Action Council and a broad multi-sector coalition that included over 40 local and national organizations--big congrats to them all! Once implemented, the measure will impact a significant portion of the city’s nearly $200 million in spending toward local food businesses and farmers.

The momentum is growing for good food nationwide! #GoodFoodChicago #GoodFoodCities #FoodDayEveryDay
