Harper to Host Cannabis Entrepreneurship Workshop

State Rep. Sonya Harper, D-Chicago, will lead a discussion and workshop on opportunities for career and entrepreneurial advancement as a result of cannabis legalization on Saturday, April 6 from 12 to 2 p.m. at the Sherman Park fieldhouse.

“With the possibility of adult recreational cannabis legalization coming to Illinois, I want residents to know about the opportunities that exist to start a small business and create local jobs,” Harper said. “But even without recreational cannabis, there are still significant opportunities for local entrepreneurs in medical marijuana and industrial hemp.”

Harper’s workshop will offer residents the ability to hear from leaders in the cannabis and industrial hemp industries including Revolution Cannabis, Viola Extracts and Chicago NORML as well as community development leaders from Grow Greater Englewood and the Englewood Development Group. For more information or to RSVP, please contact Harper’s constituent service office at 773-925-6580 or RepSonyaHarper@gmail.com.

“Communities harmed by the War on Drugs deserve to know how they can positively benefit from the growing cannabis and industrial hemp industries,” added Harper. “I encourage residents to attend this workshop to learn about their ability to access cannabis-related business opportunities that can create good, sustainable jobs in their neighborhoods.”
